Full and Tired

We've had a low key weekend as the baby girl has been sick and kind of a fuss pants since Friday. Another ear infection as well as her 9 month checkup and 2nd flu shot.  But these pics were too funny not to share.

Our BIG Girl

UGH!  I remember when I couldn't WAIT for Emily to be BIGGER...until she could DO more...until she could interact MORE....now I say SLOW DOWN BABY GIRL!  My emotions are crazy right now. It feels like she is doing 5 new things a week and I am powerless to stop it. I can only sit back, TRY to take it all in and not miss anything. Enjoy this crazy, wonderful ride.  But it's HARD. I want to keep her small and needing me as long as possible.
Sean and I really are enjoying watching her grow and learn before our very eyes.  I just wish it didn't feel like time was moving in crazy fast forward speed all of a sudden. Our baby is starting to be a little girl.  It is wonderful and horrible all at the same time. They aren't kidding when they say blink and you'll miss things at this stage.
Emily is feeding herself a ton more now. Really wants to do it all the time if you will let her. She sits at a big girl table and chair for lunch and eats off a real plate at school. Last night she even sat up in her crib for the first time!

Kindermusik take 2

We took Emily out of Kindermusik earlier in the fall. Things were getting crazy with the schedule so we decided to take her out and wait until the winter session.  I am SO glad we did. She was 3 months old in the fall when we started and still not really aware of - well I'm not sure what she was aware of exactly.  BUT now- at 8 months old. she's totally into it- just having a big ol time. I am going to *try* to figure out how to post video onto here- but for now pictures will have to do.  Needless to say we are looking forward to the next 15 weeks of Saturday music time with our girl.

workin on my fitness!

breakfast with friends

Saturday morning I took Emily to meet up with Davis and Poppy (and their parents) for a little breakfast.  It was the first time we have gone to eat a meal with several other kids. I enjoyed catching up with Lisa and Kiersten and Amy and Ken.  It was also really sweet to watch the girls with each other.  The "big" girls were especially sweet to Emily giving her love and head pats.  I hope to make that an every month or so event because we had so much fun.

playing with the boys

I totally forgot about these pictures- they were on Nana's camera.  We took Ms Janice lunch right before Christmas and Nana had her camera but Mommy did not (crazy right?)!  We got some fun pictures of Emily playing with her buddies at "school".  Will and Gunner are her two best buds. Followed by Patrick and Mara.  She and Mara have been the only two girls in the room for a while now. The boys are more mobile than Emily so they tend to rough house with her a bit. while we were there Will mowed her over and kept right on going- she didn't cry or anything. Just laughed and rolled over and started playing with him. If only she took falling over at home so smoothly....

First Cracker

We are having a lot of firsts - especially with food these days. This week I was able to document Emily's first cracker- She wasn't quite sure what to make of it or what to do at first...but she figured it out fairly quickly.

what this?

mmmmm  okay I try it

not quite sure about it

8 months

Emily Claire has been on this planet for 8 GLORIOUS months!  She turned 8 months old on December 29th. I can't believe it. The year has just flown by. I so enjoyed our time together while I was off. That was a special treat. I hope to have time with her like that every year. Life is too short and these moments are so precious! She is changing every. single. day.  It is amazing to watch.

We did not have to go for a checkup this month so no offical weight/height, but we did make a trip to the doctor while we were off for an ear check and her weight was 16.5 pounds. I *tried* to measure her the other day and she is almost 28 inches long. We have a long and lean baby girl.  Some things she is doing now:

  • she starts our on her side but rolls to her tummy almost immediately to sleep
  • no teeth yet but drooling buckets and chewing on everything!
  • rocking back and forth but not crawling yet- thinking about it though
  • she is SUPER ticklish in her tummy/ribs area and will belly laugh if you get her
  • she goes bananas for phones, remote, keys, cameras want to hold them all
  • she loves to shake things that make noise. rattles, toys, keys
  • she loves to beat on things like a drum. pillows, pots, toys
  • she will hold her bottle *some* of the time but is often lazy and wants you to do it.
  • she is getting there with the sippy cup- can't always get it to work but doesn't seem to care yet
  • the girl LOVES food. anything you want to give her. and she wants real food if given a choice
  • new foods this month: first meatball, spaghetti, cheese,  potato soup, ham
  • she loves feeding herself. I think she would just eat puffs if we let her
  • she is mesmerized by Lily. watches her every move and smiles and giggles when she comes in the room.
  • she's got the Rasberry down pat! and loves to do it. There is spit flying - so look out if you see her!!
  • she is starting to pull up on our clothes when we are holding her. She is also trying with the furniture but doesn't really know how so she doesn't get past her knees as of now.
  • loves to practice standing with help. I think she likes the new view!

    Hi Mommy

hey- getting big isn't so bad Mommy- I do sleep all night now!

Rollin...the ball

Emily is discovering new things everyday...and learning she can do all kinds of things. Ball with Daddy is one of her latest. He rolled it to her- and a few times, she rolled it back! She was pretty impressed with herself when that happened!

what is this game?

this is FUN!
YAY me!!!  I did it Daddy!

roll it this way and let me show you my mad ball skills!
