Weeks 2 & 3

Emily and Mommy had their first solo outing!  We had to go back to the doctor for our two week checkup on Monday.  Miss Emily was still not back to birth weight - close but not quite so we had to go back on Friday too.  Finally on Friday- SUCCESS. we don't have to go back until 2 months. 

We've gone back and forth from sleeping pretty well, to not sleeping almost at all. It's an adventure I tell ya...thank heavens for a hands on Daddy that splits the time! I love you honey!

Breastfeeding is still challenging but Emily and Mommy are doing everything we can to make it work! We are still having to supplement formula and it is now causing lots of fussiness and gas :(  So Emily and mommy are NOT happy campers about that.  We are hoping to be able to wean her back off of formula soon but time will tell. 

 We've had a few more visitors since we've been home a while and gotten settled more. Sara, Aunt Ann (Gammy), Aunt Charlotte and Bailey, Betty Kay and Denise, and Aunt Lauren and Mrs Kim have all come to say hello.  And Auntie Amy, Uncle Kenny and her BFF Davis came by yesterday to visit and bring some hand me downs and a present! It's been a full couple of weeks. Emily also went to see Miss Tammy for the first time this week but decided not to get her nails done just yet!

Other things from these couple of weeks

• Emily weighs 7lbs, 4oz at 3 weeks
• She's 20.2 inches long- growing right along
• she LIKES tummy time
• she tolerated bath number 2 okay but didn't like it
• she still hates having her clothes or diaper changed
• she likes listening to music- all different kinds
• she still gets the hiccups at least 2-3 times a day :(
• she seems able to focus on your face and follow your voice when you speak to her
• her newborn clothes are still too big for her for the most part

First Week!

Our first week home with the little Princess was actually quite a blur...but I hear that is totally normal so I am glad we are "normal" - as if anything will ever be normal again.  On to a new normal I suppose.  :) 

Emily had a bit of jaundice so we have already been to the doctor's office twice.  She is fine- no lights or blankets and we like Dr. Miller a lot. I think the people at Laurelwood are going to be great and it is so close to the house. I really like that.  She was already back to 6lbs, 8oz on our second visit so her weight is doing what it's supposed to. I am really unsure about what she is getting when I breastfeed so it's confusing and frustrating at times but I am determined to hang in there.  Dr. Miller has had us supplement formula at some feeding to add to- just to make sure she is getting enough and gaining weight like she should.  I forgot to take a picture at her first visit- bad mama! so I will do it when we go back for what would have been her first check up at two weeks. 
Other things from our first week home...

• Sean and I celebrated our 2nd Anniversary on the day we came home from the hospital
• Emily turned one week old on Friday, May 6th. I can't believe she's been here a whole week
• Emily wore her first "Derby Day" hat for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday- Animal Kingdom was the long shot winner.
• She had her first sponge bath at home and we washed her hair
• She got her first "blue box" from Tiffany- from Mama Sheryl and Mama Janie- SPOILED!
• My first Mother's Day - which was surreal and sweet.  Emily and her Daddy know how to spoil Mama!

Royals and Grizzlies and Emily - OH MY!

6lbs, 12oz - 19.5 inches

Our precious baby girl came into this world last Friday night after a long and eventful day.  Sean and I got to the hospital at 4 am- REALLY 4am?  I was thinking WHY does anyone need to be getting to the hospital this early to have a baby... well now we know.  If we hadn't gotten there that early, I think she would have gotten here on April 30th instead.  Back to our day...  we got settled in at the hospital and they started my pitocin at 5am while I watched the Royal Wedding - Kate and William tied the knot as my contractions started coming along.  Mom and Aunt Ann got to the hospital about 6ish followed by Rachel and Aimee a short while later.  Sean was out numbered BIGTIME-lots of gabbing and Royal watching but he took it all in stride :)  

The short version...I didn't seem to progress very quickly at first but they told me that was normal.  Once we finally got to 7cm, things started moving more quickly. We had been watching the  Grizzlies game while we waited so when we got ready to "push" I used the game as a distraction! ha!  Dr. Chauhan told me we were ready to go (push) about 8:50pm and sweet Emily got here at 9:18pm- FINALLY our beautiful daughter was here and absolutely perfect.  And, the Grizz won the first round of the playoffs- Emily must be good luck!

We finally got through recovery and into a room about midnight.  Long day at the ranch folks- but I wouldn't change one minute of it.  I could not have gotten through it without Sean, my family, Rachel, Aimee and Amy's support. Thank you wonderful husband and sweet friends.

So here is the nursery. I am sorry I am so tardy getting these pictures up but it's been a little hectic this week! I am sure you all understand :) This is Miss Emily's new home and I am really pleased with how it turned out. Sean and Christy were such a big help getting it put together just how I wanted. I still don't know what I want above the crib but would love suggestions if anyone has any.
