our whirlwind wild weekend

I am exhausted just thinking about our weekend! Uncle John, Aunt Christena, and Camille came for a visit and we packed about as much as one can pack into a weekend into ours.

We started our Friday night by meeting them at the Rendezvous for dinner- a first for Miss Emily. Saturday morning we got up and did our usual weekend morning routine. I met Christena for some quick shopping and then we met everyone for lunch at one of our favorite spots, Huey's. Emily had her first whipped cream when she and Camille shared a dessert. After lunch we hit the Children's museum- another first for us! It is a little "big" for Emily right now, but we had fun. We followed Camille around and then we "fished" and played in the 4 and under area. Emily had a good time playing with Camille and this other little boy about her age. We got a quick nap in and then met the entire family for dinner at the Grove Grill. My Aunt, Uncle, other cousin, her son, and my mom all came to dinner. Emily got to bed waaaay past her bedtime but she conked out pretty easily.

Sunday morning we met Camille at the hotel for our first swimming adventure. I jumped at the chance to get Em into a pool to see if she would like it as much as the bathtub. It was a HUGE success!  it took her a few minutes to kind of take in our surroundings and the difference in temp of the water....but she LOVED IT!  After swimming, we went to the zoo! (I mean crazy busy right?)!  FOUR hours of the zoo! - from one end to the other we looked and pointed out the animals to the girls. Camille road the carousel.  We saw the dinosaurs- Em got a little freaked/scared by one of them so I turned her quickly away from it. Fit averted by some soothing from mama and a sippy cup! we are ALL about our sippy cup now. Seriously, I dont' know what clicked but in a week, she's gone from not wanting to really hold it much to being all about it.  YAY! After our zoo adventure, we capped off the weekend with a "linner" at Newks- another of our favor tie spots! It was an insanely busy weekend that I seriously needed to recoup from by the end of it- but so fun and worth it!!

Camille was so sweet and good with her all weekend. She wanted to hold her hand and show her how to swim and float. She worried about her when she was eating and coughing a bit (Emily is all about waaay too much food in her mouth at one time) UGH! We don't get to get these two girls together enough and it was such a treat!  (Even if we need to rest afterwards)!

10 Months of Joy! (a late posting)

Emily turned 10 months old at the end of February- and I just realized I have not posted her 10 month post- Bad Mama!!!  Our girl is between 19-20 lbs and around 29-29.5 inches long.

  • Emily is crawling like crazy - ALL over the place
  • She pretty much wants to stand all the time. She crawls to where she wants to go and then stands up. She occassionally drops to her knees to rest
  • She likes to wave at everyone and is pointing at people and things she wants.
  • She uses EVERYTHING - I mean everything as a musical instrument. paci and a ball, spoon and the floor, book and a clacker- you name it, she's knocking it together or on the floor.
  • She eats pretty much anything you give her. She loves soft tacos at El Mezecal, soup from Newks, sweet potatos, hamburgers, pizza, mac and cheese, green beans, all kinds of fruit. waffles- ANYTHING
  • She is usually standing in her crib when I go to get her up in the morning- sometimes she is sitting, bouncing in anticipation instead
  • she is wearing size 3 diapers, and size 12 months in clothes. they are slightly large in the middle but we need it for the length.
  • she is still super snuggly/cuddly when she is sleepy or when she first wakes up. LOVE IT
  • She loves her lovie- I took it this weekend and was snuggling it so she could see me- she crawled over to me and took it from my hands and hugged it.  but she's just as prone to throw it down when something else gets her attention.
  • She is a bigtime mama's girl right now which is bitter sweet. I hate that she cries sometimes when I hand her to someone else but it's nice that she wants me.
  • She reaches a lot when she wants to be picked up- and has now started crawling over to you and pulling up on your legs to knees or standing and raising her arms up as if to say- PICK ME UP NOW!
She is just truly our joy- she is so sweet and so cute and so funny and she steals my heart more everyday- sean's too. She is an amazing little creature and we are so glad she's ours

Happy St Patrick's Day and the rest of the week

We had a great week last week that ended in a fun filled weekend. Emily is really getting around - crawling at lightning speeds these days. I feel like I chase her all over the house now! She still loves school and Ms Janice and playing with her friends. We had a girls' day at the Zoo Saturday with Auntie Amy and Davis Cate followed by a super yummy lunch at Fresh Slices. Sunday we had lunch with Aunt Charlotte and Bailey (no pics of them-sorry!) some of my favorites from the week/weekend:

Nana's knee

Nana (aka Kay, aka my mom) had knee surgery last week. A partial knee replacement. She is doing so well.  My Aunt Ann came over to help out and stay with her! THANK YOU AUNT ANN!  Mom is making great progress and recovering very nicely. Ann and I stayed at the hospital for most of the day - then I went back to get Emily and brought her to the hospital for a visit- I think that made Nana's day.

lately- catching up

things have been fairly low key in the MacDermant household lately. Not a lot of things going on- but I realized I hadn't really done a post in a week or so - thought I better get on it!  Then I started looking at the pictures- and I realized that all I have been taking pictures of is Emily at school or eating or occasionally playing...funny how it all looks the same- see what I mean below! too funny (or sad maybe)!
